The first construction materials arrived on site at the end of April. By mid May, concrete columns had been added to the existing single storey building.

On 17 May, the children moved into the new building – with an opening ceremony!
Local government officials have visited the completed building
Suman Shakya, the Chairman of District Coordination Committee. After visiting the school, he says this is a model structure in terms of design, strength and finishing. He thanked ABIN for supporting Mahendra School to build this building and the deaf students studying there.
Medini Ghimire, the Principal of the School, says the entire community is grateful to ABIN/SODEC for the support to build this hostel / classroom building. It has provided safe and sound building for deaf and hard pf hearing children that enhances the effectiveness of teaching and learning processes.
Indra Maya, the caretaker of the facility. She is excited to move to this beautiful home. The hardest part of the surrent set up is having to take students to the school from the hostel. Soon they will be in one building.
