Nepal – Part 2 – Visiting Sharada Secondary School

After visiting Aapchaur to see Bandhevi School it was time to travel Sankhuwasaba and see our current school project, Sharada Secondary School. We were welcomed with such joy by both students and the staff. It was a very special day where we spent a few hours learning more about the people of Sharada, and them about us. They invited us to visit with the students and talk about ourselves. In Nepal a “secondary school” has children all the way from kindergarten/nursery age up to grade/year 10 so we had lots of different ages of children to visit with. We also found out we were the first foreigners to ever visit the school so we caused quite a lot of excitement as you can imagine! They had prepared a wonderful local lunch of Dhal Bhaat for us, followed by dancing performed by students and an example of a local game.

Here are just a few of the images from this wonderful day…

Silent Auction and Fundraiser

Please join us for our 2nd Annual Silent Auction and Fundraiser at the beautiful Glo Restaurant + Lounge. Last year was a huge success, we sold out tickets and raised nearly $10,000. This year we are hoping to raise even more money for our current project, Sharada Secondary School, and our future projects. We have tons of silent auction items this year, please check our Facebook for more information. You can purchase tickets here, and we expect to sell out again so don’t delay.

Nepal – Part 1 – Another Brick in Thamel

We arrived in Nepal 6 days ago, jet lag has finally left us! We spent the first 4 days acclimatizing and visiting some of the sites of Kathmandu before our visit to Aapchaur to see the completed school. We arrived during Dashain, the biggest festival time of the year.

After a 2 hour 4×4 adventure we arrived to an incredible welcome at the school. The whole village had turned out to thank us for rebuilding their school. We had brought specially made money boxes for all the children as they get given money at festival time. The whole experience was breathtakingly wonderful for all the ABIN team.

Here are some pictures of our time so far…

Upcoming Nepal Trip

Tomorrow morning a group of ABIN team members will set off on the long journey to Nepal. There will be 9 members in total, with 6 visiting for the first time. The trip is entirely self-funded, like all the earlier trips, as we are committed to all the money we raise going directly to those in need.

The trip will mainly be spent visiting Bandhevi Primary School in Aapchaur (which was completed in January, 2018) and going to the Sankhuwasabha District to visit our current construction project, Sharada Secondary School. We look forward to sharing the journey with here you as we go.

Here are some update pictures from Sharada Secondary School this week where the kids were getting involved!
