2nd Annual Trail run

Thank you to all of you who came out to support us this Sunday at our 2nd Annual Trail run at East Sooke Park. The turnout was phenomenal, with over 170 runners registered (up by almost 50 from last year). We had a wonderful day with you all and are so excited to share that we raised over $10,000! Thank you to everyone who helped us raise money, and a special shout out to Bill McIntyre who singlehandedly raised over $2,500.

We want to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers and to the Mint Restaurant who once again provided us with the best post-race food available. We also want to thank our other generous sponsors BrockWhite, Island Imagery, Islands West Produce, Level Ground Coffee, Prairie Inn Harriers, Northwest Scaffolding, Titanium Tents, Thrifty Foods, West Coast College of Massage Therapy

School Update Pictures

We have received more pictures of the progress on Sharada Secondary School. Things are going very well as work continues on to the second floor. We also were able to present Mahendra School with 498,000 Nepali Rupees (around $5700 CAD) to complete repairs and buy equipment needed for the school.

Glo Fundraiser – Thank You!

We were so happy to be hosting our 2nd Annual Fundraiser and Silent Auction at Glo Restaurant + Lounge on November 20th. Paul and his wonderful team at Glo were once again exceptionally welcoming and took great care to ensure our event was an even bigger success than last year.

Tickets were sold out over a week before the event, so we knew we were going to have an amazing evening. Glo helped us decorate the whole space with an abundance of Nepali prayer flags so it looked spectacular. We had just under 100 donations of items to the silent auction which was incredible! The list of donors can be found below and we just want to express our gratitude to those who donated, some for the second year in a row and many for the first time this year. The support we received for this event was exceptional, and it is because of this support we were about to raise just over $21,000 in one night!

Thank-you to everyone who came out to participate in the night, we are lucky to be part of such strong community.

Glo also provided a videographer, Luke Connor Visual, who put together this beautiful video of the evening.

And finally some more pictures of the event. We already can’t wait for next year!

Nepal – Part 2 – Visiting Sharada Secondary School

After visiting Aapchaur to see Bandhevi School it was time to travel Sankhuwasaba and see our current school project, Sharada Secondary School. We were welcomed with such joy by both students and the staff. It was a very special day where we spent a few hours learning more about the people of Sharada, and them about us. They invited us to visit with the students and talk about ourselves. In Nepal a “secondary school” has children all the way from kindergarten/nursery age up to grade/year 10 so we had lots of different ages of children to visit with. We also found out we were the first foreigners to ever visit the school so we caused quite a lot of excitement as you can imagine! They had prepared a wonderful local lunch of Dhal Bhaat for us, followed by dancing performed by students and an example of a local game.

Here are just a few of the images from this wonderful day…
